Thank you for the cake, Rin. My home world has no holiday that corresponds to "Christmas" and I was unaware it was so widely celebrated, so I'm afraid I have nothing to offer you in return but my thanks. The next time we meet, I'll treat you to a meal.
It's not that I don't appreciate the gesture, it's simply that Christmas Eve is a couple's holiday where I'm from, and Christmas Day is spent with family with even less significance. It's a foreign social-consumer holiday at best.
The cake is just a symbol of my gratitude and acknowledging the passage of time. When I first got here there were holiday themed games run by the House and decorations to match. That makes a full year for me, and I don't want to be the type of guest who loses track.
You know, now that I think about it, a lot of people tend to have worlds similar to mine so it's not often such wires are crossed. Maybe one day you could teach me about a holiday from yours?
It's a short list to choose from. Religion has been mostly eradicated in my world, so we don't have many holidays to celebrate. But I can teach you about some from the country where I was born, which is one of the only places that still believes in gods.
@tseng / text, even later that evening
